Booker T and the MG's

Listening to PBS (as i do everyday in the car), i heard another very interesting podcast about someone that I'd heard the name of, but would never have found more interesting than that.
Booker T and the MG's.
Several things interested me in the podcast. For one, this guy Booker T sounded like a professor, speaking about american modern music history, rather than an entertainment legacy. Further, the people he worked with over the past 40 years....basically everyone that has a name in American music.
Pehaps the most interesting aspect of his story for me was the "the MGs" was a band that was 2 white guys and 2 black guys, at a time in US history where this was uncommon, if not perhaps even close to illegal in some states. But, the comment that he made when questined about this fact that impressed me the most was that this "mix" was not a problem to their (the MGs) world. It was only a problem to the outside world. I found that nice.
If you have a chance, have a listen to the podcast, and maybe even get a copy of Booker T new album: Potato Hole.
